The inscription is a bit incorrect on the foot stone also. Robert Balis Dean entered service on 14 April 1861 into Company C of the 4th SC Infantry the was transferred into Company E of the 13th Infantry. He was also promoted from Private to Corporal on 21 April 1862.

Please find attached a copy of the headstone for Robert Balis Dean that I have straightened up. I am doing some Confederate research on Anderson County veterans. The inscription is a bit incorrect on the foot stone also. Robert Balis Dean entered service on 14 April 1861 into Company C of the 4th SC Infantry the was transferred into Company E of the 13th Infantry. He was also promoted from Private to Corporal on 21 April 1862.
