Narcissa Lewis is the daughter of Marah "Major" Lewis and Elizabeth Dunn (Moorhead) Lewis of Old Pendleton District (later Anderson County), South Carolina. Her full name may be Louisa Narcissa Lewis. She was raised on a plantation established by her father near Dean's Station at Rock Mills, Anderson County, South Carolina.

She married Moses Dean on 13 Sep 1822 in Pendleton, South Carolina (Source: "Marriage and Death Notices From Pendleton (S.C.) Messenger, 1807-1851"). Narcissa and Moses had at least 10 children:

- Elizabeth Lewis Dean (1823-1862) md. 1st Marcus Motes, 2nd Fleetwood Rice
- Mary Hillis Dean (1824-1880)
- Mariah Louisa Dean (1828-1900)
- Major John Dean (c1831-1902)
- ?Lucyriah/Lucinda Emily "Lucy" Dean (c1835-1892) md. Samuel A. Dean
- Robert Baylis Dean (1837-1905)
- Aaron Augustus "Gus" Dean (1840-1935) md. Louisa Davis Allen
