BENDER, Nelson
Passed away peacefully on Saturday,
May 15, 2010 at his residence the
Maples Home for Seniors, Tavistock.
Nelson was formerly of The Crest
Centre at RR#1 Lucan. He was born
83 years ago in Wilmot Township a
son of the late Moses and Catherine
(Roth) Bender. Nelson was a member
of Tavistock Mennonite Church. He
enjoyed meeting people, playing
bingo, and had a great mind for
family genealogy. A hard worker,
Nelson had been employed on many
area farms prior to his retirement.
Dear brother-in-law of Ruby Bender
of New Hamburg. Nelson is lovingly
remembered by his 31 nieces, nephews
and their families. Nelson was the
last surviving member of his family
having been predeceased by sisters
and brothers Wilmer (Marion) Bender,
Elmina (in infancy), Arthur (Dorothy)
Bender, Lydia (Mahlon) Zehr, Alvin
Bender, Katie (Vernon) Zehr, and
Elon (Marie) Bender. Nelson was also
predeceased by nephews Raymond
Bender and Lester Zehr and by niece
Linda Brown. Friends and relatives
may call at Mark Jutzi Funeral
Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg
on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The
funeral service will be held on
Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at 2 p.m. at
Tavistock Mennonite Church with
Pastor Paul Adams officiating. Burial
to follow at 16th Line East Zorra
Mennonite Cemetery. As expressions
of sympathy donations may be made
to Mennonite Central Committee,
Tavistock Mennonite Church or the
