Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home August 6, 2001 in Nephi, Utah. She was surrounded by her children and grandchildren as she went home to the loving arms of our Heavenly Father.

Maxine was born to Ora Elsie Price and Joy Dellrain Sperry, November 17, 1913 in Nephi, Utah. She married Reese Painter June 13, 1942 in Fort Lewis, Washington where he was serving in the US Army. They moved to Levan and later Nephi where they have spent the last 59 years. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple June 13, 1959.

Maxine was active in the LDS Church where she held numerous positions.
She loved teaching her little Sunday School Class for 25 years and was a Visiting Teacher for many years.

She was a member of the Nephi Women Federated Club where she held various offices. She was a dedicated and loving mother. Mother loved her family; she was proud of the accomplishments of each of them. She taught them the gospel and was an example to everyone by showing her Christ-like love. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved hearing their stories and always shared in their excitement. She never missed sending beautiful cards to her family, friends, and neighbors. She took pride in always finding the perfect one, and in turn she always received many cards on her special days and would display them beautifully in her home. She loved those Jazz. She would watch faithfully in her Jazz shirt and knew each player.
Her family enjoyed watching with her, especially the years of the NBA Finals. Mom had a real cute sense of humor. She would come up with the funniest little sayings. She enjoyed watching quiz shows and could compete with the best of them. She enjoyed her evenings with dad. Mother fought a lot of battles with her health throughout her life and she always won. Her last one was more challenging but she was not going to give up. She enjoyed going to her weekly visits with her doctor and spending the time with her daughters and daughters-in-law.

Maxine is survived by her husband Reese and her five children, Blair (Susan), Duane (Diana), Donna (Loren) Callaway, Robert (Beverly), and Kathryn all of Nephi; 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dell (Jacketta) Sperry; sisters, Joy (Jess) Young and Martha Sperry.

Funeral services will held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2001 in the Nephi 8th Ward, 222 S. 100 E. Friends may call Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, 94 W. 300 N. and at the church one hour prior to services. The Burial will be in the Vine Bluff Cemetery Nephi, Utah.
