Baptism listed in Tohickon Reformed records, born Apr. 23, 1774, no baptism date listed. Sponsors were Anthony Lerch & Margaret, his maternal grandparents.

George was the husband of Mary Magdelene (Hess) Amey (1774-1820), daughter of Conrad Hess. Marriage record from the Trinity Union Church (Reformed) was 14 May 1797 but this date would have been a year after his daughter, Susanna was born. According to the Nicholas Hess Book, the family resided in Springfield Township, then moved to Warren County, N.J. (which would have been Sussex County as Warren was not created yet). The family then moved to Luzerne Co. Pa. about 1814 and settled in an area known as " Beach Woods" and was employed by felling timber, where he was killed by a falling tree in 1826.

He had ten children with his wife, Mary Magdalene Hess:

  1. Susanna Amey, born Sept. 28, 1796, married Daniel Spencer, died July 23.1856.
  2. Margaret Amey, born Nov. 27, 1799 per baptism, (gravestone lists Sept. 27), married George Sloyer, died Mar. 3, 1882.
  3. Anna "Nancy" Mary Amey, born Oct. 11, 1801, married Orin Spencer, brother of Daniel Spencer, died Apr. 1, 1871.
  4. Abner Amey, born Mar. 19, 1804, married Sophia B. Long, died Nov. 7, 1885.
  5. David Amey, born Dec. 29, 1806, marred Carolyn Main, died June 23, 1892.
  6. Juliana Amey, born Feb. 23, 1809, married John Campbell, died Nov. 29, 1870.
  7. Conrad Amey, born Oct. 15, 1811, married Judith Bogar, died May 25, 1887.
  8. Mary Magdalene Amey. born Oct. 8, 1813, married Daniel Fritchman, died Aug. 6, 1867.
  9. Roswell Amey, born Nov. 1, 1814, married Maria Ohlewein, died Feb. 17, 1888.
  10. Elizabeth Amey, born Feb. 8, 1820, married Eberhard Wolf, died Mar. 10, 1895.
