He was a Longshoreman working for Walsh Stevedoring Company for over 20 years, and a member of International Longshoremen's Union, Local 795.

Siblings include; Mary Magdalene 'Maggie' Barnes Parker Eurisa; Maria Seville 'Sibil' Barnes Smith; William 'Will' Robert Barnes; George Quitman Barnes; Willy Arthur Barnes and Obie David Barnes.

ERNEST LONZO BARNES
Ernest Lonzo Barnes, 76, a resident of 2910 6th Ave., Gulfport, died at 8:25 a.m. Friday at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport where he had been a patient for two months.
Born Aug. 16, 1898, in George County, Miss., he was a protestant. He had resided in Gulfport for 34 years and was employed with Walsh Stevedoring Company for 20 years. He was a member of International Longshoremen's Union, Local 795. He was the husband of the late Bertha Bond Barnes.
Survivors include two sons, Richard L. Barnes of Atlanta, Ga., and Larry D. Barnes of Clarksville, Tenn.; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Ernestine) Bounds of Atlanta, Ga.; a brother, Obie D. Barnes of Gulfport; five grandchildren, and one great grand child.
Friends called Saturday evening at Riemann Funeral Home in Gulfport.
The funeral will be held from the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Bert Phelps, pastor of the Free Church of God in Gulfport.
Interment will be in Evergreen Gardens Cemetery.
