He was born November 6, 1914, a son of Hal and Elizabeth Myers Crayne.
A lifelong resident of Jefferson, Mr. Crayne graduated from high school there in 1938. He graduated four years later from Waynesburg College, where he was president of the Phi Lambda Theta fraternity during his senior year.
Mr. Crayne taught at Jefferson-Morgan High School until his retirement in 1977. He was a member of PSEA.
Interested in history, Mr. Crayne held memberships in the Greene County Historical Society, the First Families of Ohio, the Ohio Genealogical Society, the Cornerstone Genealogical Society, the Sons of the American Revolution, the Hereditary Order of the Founders and Patriots of America, and the Hereditary Order of the Descendants of Colonial Governors.
A Master Mason, he was a member of Waynesburg Lodge 153, the Uniontown Lodge of Perfection and the Pittsburgh Consistory.
Mr. Crayne was a lifelong member of the Jefferson Baptist Church.
On June 10, 1938, he married Kathryn Edith Guiher Crayne, who died May 11, 1979.
Surviving are a son, a daughter, three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his wife, are a sister, Isabelle Crayne Swocker; and five brothers, David, Allen, Hal, Hughes and Jack Crayne.
