He was born July 11, 1909, in Jefferson, a son of Hallie and Elizabeth Myers Crayne.
He attended Jefferson area schools and resided in Mather most of his life. He had made his home in Millsboro since 1971.
Mr. Crayne was a retired miner who had worked at the Mather Colleries.
He was a member of the Jefferson Baptist Church, Fredericktown Owls Club, Waynesburg Moose Lodge and Gateway Local 6330, United Mine Workers of America. He was a social member of the Cole-Hanson American Legion Post in Fredericktown.
Surviving are his wife, Anna Callahan Crayne, whom he married February 4, 1928; a son, a daughter, eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, L. Myers Crayne of Jefferson.
A daughter, Betty Crayne, a grandson, Kevin Stay, four brothers, Allen, David, Jack and Hughes Crayne, and a sister, Isabel Swecker, are deceased.
