Mary Ann (Jones) Munoz, 75, passed away on Friday, April 30, 2010 at St. John's Regional Medical Center of cardiac arrest. A long period of physical pain ended suddenly and she is finally at peace.

Born in Iowa City, Iowa in 1935, she was a forty-year resident of Oxnard and Santa Maria. In 2005, she returned to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to care for her aged mother. She returned to California in April 2010 to be near her friends and beloved son.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and John Cole, and her father and mother, Merle and Crystal Jones. Her husband, Agustin Munoz, died in 1995.

Throughout her rich and colorful life, Mary Ann was always known for her outgoing and friendly personality. She instantly made a new friend of whomever she met. Along with her husband, she was an active community volunteer supporting organizations such as the Ventura County Fair where she was a past co-chair of the Photography Division. Along with her husband, she was also a co-founder and past president of the Gold Coast Navigators, a civic organization dedicated to supporting culture and tourism in Oxnard. She was a devoted member of the Red Hat Society, where her outrageous personality and strong leadership aided her founding of no less than three different chapters in Oxnard, Santa Maria and Hiawatha, Iowa.

Always a good sport, Mary Ann enjoyed nothing more than playing card and other games, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Mary Ann is survived by her only son, Roldan Evan Munoz of Santa Barbara, and his partner Kevin Day; nephews, Greg (Jolene) Cole of Concord, California, Gary (Char) Cole of Avon, Colorado, and Sheryl (Jim) Stallman of Fairfax, Iowa; great-nieces and nephews, Alexandra and Olivia Cole (Greg), Tyler and Jason Cole (Gary), Kate and Paul Stallman (Sheryl); her close friend and "adopted" daughter, Linda Vogt, who cared for her during the last years of her life; and the countless friends she touched throughout her lifetime.

Mary Ann will be interred alongside her husband at Santa Clara Cemetery, 2370 North H Street, Oxnard, on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at 10:00 a.m.
