JOPLIN, MO — Chester "Chet" John Floyd, age 91, Joplin, Mo., died Friday, May 14, 2010, after a short illness.
Chet was born Feb. 12, 1919, in Manes, Mo., to Monroe and Martha Cantrell Floyd.

He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of World War II.

He moved to Joplin in 1965, from Chanute, Kan.

He was the manufacturing supervisor for the ammunition plant in Chanute, and later owned and operated a trucking company in Joplin.

He was a member of the Leawood Village Church of Christ.

He married Paulette Picard on March 16, 1946, in Paris, France. She preceded him in death on May 19, 2008.

He was also preceded in death by one brother and five sisters.

He is survived by one sister-in-law, Mabel Floyd, of Benedict, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary. Ron Lankford and Jim Stockam, Ministers, will officiate.

Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
