Olive Delores Whitaker was born on Sunday, September 5, 1926, in Lawrence, Kansas. She was the daughter of C. Lester and Myrtle Carrie (Schultz) Cummickel. Olive was raised in Topeka, Kansas, moving to Ottawa, to be closer to her sister, nieces and nephews, on November 1, 2004, where she made her home until her death on Wednesday, February 7, 2007, at the age of eighty years.

Olive graduated from Topeka High School with the class of 1944, and Lighthouse of International Four Square Evangelism on June 24, 1948. She was licensed to preach on June 27, 1948.

Olive worked at Paltierr's Department Store in Topeka before going to work for the State of Kansas Department of Transportation on February 14, 1977. She retired from there on August 17, 1988, to help her husband, Dale, with his business. They also enjoyed traveling together. Her Christian work at Foursquare Gospel Church and The Light of the World Church in Topeka was a very important part of her life.

On March 1, 1974, Olive was united in marriage with Francis "Todd" Pahmahmie. He preceded her in death on October 21, 1975. She married Dale Whitaker on August 29, 1980. He preceded her in death on March 4, 1993. She is also preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Ervin Catron; and two sisters, Dorothea E. Myers and Mary Ellen Dunn.

Olive is survived by her sister, Betty Parker of Ottawa; stepson, David Whitaker of Topeka; two stepdaughters, Sherie Buttolph of Santa Ynez, California, Marcia Evans of Topeka; six nieces, Karen Walburn and her husband, Gary, of Ottawa, Wynnie Young and her husband, Larry, of Osawatomie, Jeannette Jensen of Lyndon, Laura Snider and her husband, Ralph, of Ottawa, Linda Roller and her husband, Brian, of Ottawa, Susan Higbee and her husband, Troy, of Riverside, California; and four nephews, Wayne Parker and his wife, Judy, of Belton, Texas, John Parker and his wife, LaVon, of Ellis, Rick Parker of Neosho Rapids, and Martin Parker of Ottawa.

SERVICES: Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 12, 2007, at West Lawn Memorial Gardens in Topeka, Kansas.

IN STATE: Mrs. Whitaker will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. Saturday and 1:00 - 9:00 p.m. Sunday.

CEMETERY: West Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
