Mary Jefferson Ables Burrell

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Jefferson Ables Burrell, 84, a homemaker of Pickens, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 15 at Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Durant. Rev. David Upshaw was the officiating minister. Burial was in Seneasha Cemetery in Goodman.

Mrs. Burrell died of respiratory failure on Saturday, February 12 at Kings Daughters Hospital in Yazoo City.

Survivors include her husband, Nathaniel Burrell of Pickens; daughters, Carrie Toombs and Dean Toombs, both of Pickens, and Maccie McCorkle of Vaiden; sons, Joe Ables of Columbus, John Ables of Pickens, Marshall “Bo” Ables of Aransas Pass, Texas and George Ables of Huntington Beach, California; sisters, Maggie Burrell of Goodman and Frankie Martin of Pickens, 19 grandchildren and 17 great- grandchildren.

Active pallbearers were Robert Toombs, Ray Sample, John S. Ables, Michael Ables, Robin Ables and Joe Ables, Jr.
