Homer, La - Thomas Eugene (Gene) Kendrick known as Daddy, Papaw and Paw to his Children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, entered into rest peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday May, 10th 2010. He was born Jan. 31, 1933 to Delma and Lora Miller Kendrick and was a lifelong resident of Claiborne Parish and the Homer area. Gene worked for Vaughn Petroleum in Lisbon, La. for many years and retired from Duer Wagner as an oilfield consultant. He also retired from the La National Guard as a Major with 24 years of service and the Claiborne Parish Sheriff's office in 2008 as Triad Offier.
Preceding him in death was his beloved wife of 53 years Jo Ann Kendrick, his parents; and a brother, James "Dodie" Kendrick. Left to cherish his memory is a special friend and sweetheart, Margaret S. Robinson of Victoria, Tx, sister, Katherine K. Beavers of Homer; son, James "Jim" Kendrick of Homer; daughter, Nancy K. Nelson and husband, Buddy of Homer: son, Jeffrey "Jeff" Kendrick of Homer and wife Terry of Shreveport: Seven grandchildren, Anna N. Greene and husband, Seth, Emily N. Burford and husband, Terry, Deborah N. Lee and husband, Dennis, Christina N. McClendon and husband Reed, Thomas Kendrick and wife, Cathi, Sarah Kendrick and Hannah J. Kendrick, Great Grandchildren, Olivia "Shug" Greene, Ava "JoJo" Buford, Kelsey "KK" Kendrick, Abbey McClendon and Clayton Bennett. Numerous Nieces, nephews and ohter relatives and many firends.
Honoring Gene as pallbearers are Thomsas Kendrick, Seth Greene, Terry Buford, Zachary Knight, Tommy Beavers and John Cole.
Honorary Pallbears will be the Claiborne Parish Sheriff and Deputy's.
Special music will be provided by Linda Hightower, Jon Crumpler, Jerry Clark, Earl Walker and First Praise singers.
Funeral services will be at RoseNeath Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, May 13th at 2:00 pm with Rev Ben Booth and Buddy Nelson, officiating. Interment will follow at Kendrick Cemetery, Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
