HOMER, LA: Katherine was born on March 14, 1921 in Claiborne Parish, LA to Thomas Delma and Annie Lora Miller Kendrick. She entered into rest on Monday, July 17, 2017. She was a faithful member of the Homer Church of Christ for many years. Katherine enjoyed cooking for the people she loved; her “kids” will especially miss her chocolate pies and trays of tea cakes. She also enjoyed her morning coffee, Atlanta Braves baseball, bird watching from her window seat, listening to her children and grandchildren play music, and holding babies. However, nothing made her happier than to simply see someone she loved come through her door for a visit where you were sure to be met with loving advice and a listening ear—unless, you were interrupting one of her heated Saturday dominoes tournaments with her children—then, you were sure to get ignored. Katherine will be remembered for her extensive collection of ceramic owls, her insistence on sending a “Thank-You” note for receiving a thank-you note, never forgetting a birthday, and her unwavering ability to love and be loved by anyone she met.

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, Delma and Lora Kendrick; husband, Troy Beavers; two brothers, Eugene and Buddy Kendrick; two children, Ann Beavers, Johnny Beavers and wife Patricia; two grandchildren, Angela McDowell and Erik Beavers.

She is survived by her two children, Tommy Beavers and wife Paulette and David Beavers and wife Judy; twelve grandchildren, Brian and Rhonda Beavers, Scott and Terri Beavers, Greg and Robin Beavers, Brad Beavers, Dennis Beavers, Tammy Beavers, Shelley and Wayne Elliot, Kathy and Dean Prothro, Lisa Brown, Doug Beavers, Ryan and Kim Beavers, Natalie Beavers and Timothy Mayberry; 35 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; and an innumerable host of others who were “hers” at heart, as she was “Granny Beavers” to many.

Honoring Katherine as pallbearers will be her “big bunch of handsome” great grandsons, Tobin Jagneaux, Riley Speights, Jon-Adam Lilley, Phillip Sims, Chad Beavers, Jason Mcdowell, Jonathon Prothro and Gary Prothro.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lucas Jagneaux, Ben Lilley, Larz Lambright, and Reed Beavers.

In lieu of flowers honoring Katherine, please make sure you get plenty to eat and don’t drive all the way home by yourselves after dark. It’s really all she would have wanted.
