Darlene M. (Goodman) Paglia was born on Monday; October 10, 1927 in Dillon; Marshall County, Iowa. She was the only daughter of Monroe and Flora Goodman. She was the oldest child in the family and had three younger brothers. Darlene married Frank Paglia on July 24, 1948, bringing to the marriage her two children from a prior marriage, Robert and Carol. Frank also brought a son, Denny, to the marriage- an instant family of five! Their blessings increased over the years as they added a son and a daughter to the mix. They lived in Marshalltown for most of their child-rearing years until 1958, when they purchased a farm and Frank set out to build Darlene her dream home in the country. Darlene worked at Fisher Controls on the factory assembly line, retiring early at age 50 to spend time with her grandchildren. In 2000, Darlene and Frank decided to give up the farmstead and move back to Marshalltown. Darlene was a volunteer in the community, cooking at House of Compassion and delivering cookies and visiting with residents at local nursing homes. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church as her Christian faith was a big part of her life.

Darlene M. (Goodman) Paglia, age 80, passed away on Friday; February 22, 2008 at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center in Marshalltown, Iowa. Those left to mourn her passing are: Her husband, Frank, of Marshalltown, her daughters, Carol(Roy) Emerson of Seward, Alaska, and Pam(Stan) Norman of New Providence, Iowa; her sons, Tim(Carol) Paglia of Mesquite, Texas, and Dennis(Charity) of Collins, Missouri; one daughter-in-law, Diane Paglia, of Key West, Florida; one brother, John(Cora) Goodman of Whitten, Iowa; nine grandchildren, twenty-one grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. In death, Darlene has rejoined her parents, one son, Robert Paglia, her brothers, Russell Goodman and Ernie Goodman, and a grandson-in-law, David Mower. May they rest in peace.
