Nancy Runser Miller was the daughter of Seraphin and Catharine Runser. In 1832 she and her family moved from the Province of Alsace which was at that time a part of France. She married Joseph Miller of Massillon Ohio on Dec. 2, 1848. They moved to Hardin County and bought a farm next to her brother John Runser. Joseph Miller died during the Civil War in Andersonville Prison. He is mentioned in a history of the Ohio soldiers.
