Virginia Lee Harpool was born on November 24, 1928, to Willard Arthur Mongold and Martha Jane Whaley Mongold. She passed away on May 9, 2010, from complications of lung cancer.
Virginia was a devoted wife, loving mother, sister, daughter and friend to many. Virginia married Charles Robert (Bob) Harpool on July 16, 1949, and was married for 54 years. They have five sons, Dan Harpool (Little Rock), Dennis Harpool (Little Rock), Doug Harpool (Springfield), Darryl Harpool (Little Rock) and David Harpool (Denver). Virginia attended Springfield Public Schools. She worked for Consumers Markets before becoming a secretary at Willard Graff Vocational Technical School for over 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Harpool; her parents; her brothers, Ross Mongold, Joe Mongold, Harold Mongold; and sisters, Helen Abbott and Jean Bair.
She is survived by her five sons and their families including 15 grandchildren, one great granddaughter, sisters-in law Carolyn Walker, Jean Mongold, Loretta Harpool, brother-in-law, George Bair and 21 nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, American Cancer Society and South Haven Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 13, 2010 at 10 a.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home South with burial in White Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30 until 7:30, Wednesday, May 12 in the funeral home.
