C.M.Raymond, 69, Dead, Retired B & A Boss
Charles M. Raymond of 11 Niagara St., former resident of West Springfield and Agawam, a retired supervisor of the Boston & Albany and New York Central Railroads, died yesterday morning in his home. He was a native of Worcester, where he was born May 20, 1880, son of the late Gilman and Jennie (Burpee) [sic - not her maiden name] Raymond. He entered the employ of the Boston & Albany railroad in 1907 in the mechanical department, was promoted to general foreman in 1927, and to supervisor a few years later. He was transferred from the West Springfield shops to the Albany locomotive shops in 1942, and retired in 1945. At the time of his retirement he was honored by his railroad associates, who presented him with a substantial purse.
Mr. Raymond had been a resident of this city for the past 13 years. Previously he had lived for 13 years in Agawam, having moved there from West Springfield where he had lived for a number of years. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of West Springfield. He is survived by three sons, Charles G. Raymond of this city, Harold J. Raymond of Agawam and Robert E. Raymond of Methuen; two brothers, John Raymond of New Hampshire, and Arthur Raymond of Bellerica.
Funeral services will be held in the Curran-Jones funeral home, West Springfield, Wednesday morning at 11. Rev. Dr. Malcolm Matheson will officiate. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, Agawam. Mr. Raymond may be seen at the Curran-Jones funeral parlors tonight, and from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 10 tomorrow.

Charles' will is found in the Probate Court in Springfield, Mass., Hampden County. He left his five acre farm, with cottage in Agawam, on what was Brady St. later known as Adams, to his son Harold. All the rest was left "in equal parts to his three sons, Charles G., Harold Jr. and Robert E." Robert was named executor of the will. Son Charles [aka Robert Lee Davis] had "unknown" whereabouts when Robert filed the final documents.
