INJURED YOUTH DIES THURSDAY
William (Billy) McCalla, injured Tuesday night on the South Pacific highway when the motorcycle he was riding and an automobile, driven by Samuel D. Stephens, crashed, died early Thursday morning at the Pacific hospital. Riding with the youth at the time of the collision was Reese Carpenter, who was not so seriously injured.
Charles P. Poole, county coroner, said there would be an investigation.
William Conner McCalla, was born in Oklahoma City, Okla., March 20, 1915. He lived at Moscow, Idaho, for some time before coming to Eugene last September.
He would have graduated from University high school in June. He was employed at the Hall's Produce market and had been going to school part time.
Surviving the youth are his mother, Mrs. Calla McCalla and one sister, Jane McCalla, Eugene.
Funeral announcements will be made later, from Veatch chapel.
