Millie and James were married on July 27, 1837 in Garrard County. They were the parents of Mahala, Moses and Pleasant Graham. Pleasant was probably "named for" Millie's brother, Pleasant Dennis.
When the Civil War started, James volunteered and was enlisted in Co. H, 7th Ky. Vol. Cav., Union. He died, as a patient in the military post hospital, at Frankfort. Mrs. Graham did not remarry. She was a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church and an integral part of the community in that area.
•Bourne-Mrs. Milly Grimes [sic Millie Graham] one of the oldest residents of this section died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Sherrow last Tuesday. She was a member of the Mt Hebron Baptist Church and lived a true and consistent Christian life. She leaves two sons one daughter and a number of grand children. After appropriate furnal [sic funeral] services conducted by Rev G W Thompson the remains were laid to rest in the Mt. Hebron cemetery Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock. The bereaved have the sympathy of the entire community.
•Lancaster Section-Mrs. Milly Grimes [sic Millie Graham] died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Sturrow [sic Sherrow], in Garrard, after several weeks' illness. She leaves two sons, one daughter, and a number of grand children.
