Audrey, the infant daughter of Dr and Mrs J L Merrylees of Mullens, died Monday morning at 4 o'clock at the Beckley hospital from an attack of cholera infantum.
The baby, which was the only child of Dr and Mrs Merrylees, was 20 months old and had been ill since last Tuesday. Its parents brought it to the Beckley hospital Saturday for treatment but the disease had so weakened the constitution of the little one that nothing could be done to save its life.
H T Calfee and Son prepared the body of the little one for burial, which was taken by the parents to Mrs Merrylee's parents' home near Sullivan, from where the funeral service was conducted by the Rev Blair, of the Baptist church Tuesday afternoon, interment taking place in the McVey family cemetery. Dr Merrylees is the editor and owner of the Mullens Advocate and with his wife has many friends who will be grieved to learn of their bereavement.
