ELLETTSVILLE — Nellie Alice (Carmichael) Perry, 88, of Ellettsville, died Friday at Richland-Bean Blossom Health Care Center.

She was born Sept. 11, 1920, in Monroe County to Herman and Pearl (McGlothlin) Carmichael.

She was a homemaker and she was also a cook at Harrodsburg and Smithville schools. She was a member of Harrodsburg United Methodist Church. She graduated from Smithville High School in 1937 at the age of 16. She was a member of the National Honor Society. She was a member of the Harrodsburg United Methodist Women.

Survivors include one son and his wife, John and Kathy Perry of Ellettsville, one daughter and her husband, Patricia Lynn and Michael Kern of Fishers; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Herman George Carmichael of Bedford; and one sister, Frances Carmichael Hoagland of Bloomington.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex B. Perry, who died Nov. 8, 1998; two sons, James Lloyd Perry who died in 1995 and Monte Lou Perry who died in 2005; one brother, Charles Carmichael in infancy and one sister, Betty Louise Carpenter.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene & Harrell Chapel in Bloomington with Minister Helen Stephenson presiding. Burial will be at Clover Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg.

Friends may call 2-8 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Harrodsburg United Methodist Church.
