STINESVILLE - Betty L. Carpenter, 78, of Stinesville, died 8:49 a.m. Wednesday at The Residence at McCormick's Creek in Spencer.
Born Jan. 6, 1928, in Monroe County, she was the daughter of Herman W. and Effie Pearl (McGlothlin) Carmichael.
She was retired as a food server at Indiana University's Teter Quad.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Harrodsburg.
Survivors include two sisters, Nellie Perry of Ellettsville and Frances Hoagland of Bloomington, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norman E. Carpenter Sr.; one son, Norman E. Carpenter Jr.; and one brother, George W. Carmichael.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville.
Burial will be at Clover Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until services Monday at the funeral home.
