Martin Schaub was the son of Christian and Salome (Glesser) Schaub. He was born in Oberhoffen Sur Moder, Alsace, France. Germany was in control of this region at the time Martin was born. Martin married Catherine Herrman on 26 Oct 1871. He immigrated to the USA with his family. They had nine sons and one daughter.

It is a good thing we have this picture of Martin's headstone. As of Oct 2012, it had sadly been vandalized and removed. The grave is not marked any longer.
