Obituary:

Gottfried (Fred) Schaub, 77, of 1264 Noble St., a retired car inspector for the Pere Marquette Railroad, died yesterday in Flower Hospital after a 2-week illness.

Mr. Schaub was born in Alsace-Lorraine and lived here 67 years. He retired from the railroad seven years ago. He was a member of Barton Smith Lodge 613, F&AM, and the Alsace-Lorraine Benevolent Society.

Surviving are sons, Clarence and Clifford, both of Toledo; daughter, Mrs. [Doris] Madeline Poulin, Toledo; brothers, August, Philip and Louis, all of Toledo, and George, Chicago; sister, Madeline Schaub, Chicago; two grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the H. H. Birkenkamp Mortuary, the Rev. John Kingsbury, pastor of Alexis Congregational Church, officiating. Burial will be in Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery. Barton Smith Lodge will conduct services at 8 p.m. tomorrow in the mortuary.
