Mrs. Bertha Sophia Thompson, 45, wife of Jean Edward. Thompson, died Wednesday evening at 10 o'clock at her home, 1429 Sante Fe. Death came after an illness of eleven weeks, three weeks of which she was treated at the University of Kansas hospitals, Kansas City, KS.

The body will remain at the Stanton mortuary until the funeral time. Services will be held Sunday at 3 pm at the Stanton chapel with burial in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. The Rev. Loyal Northcott will officiate.

Mrs. Thompson was born August 2, 1899 a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wohlgemuth of Parnell. She attended the White Clay school and entered nurses' training at the Atchison Hospital where she nursed during and after the first World War.

On June 19, 1920 she was united in marriage with Jean Edward Thompson at the Christian Church in Leavenworth. The couple made their first home at Twelfth and Sate Fe here in Atchison. After a few months they purchased their present home of 1429 Sante Fe. Had Mrs. Thompson lived until June 19 she and her husband would have observed their 25th wedding anniversary.

Although Mrs.Thompson's first interest was in her family and home she was a willing giver and believed in sharing her joys in life with others. During her weeks of illness she was a patient sufferer.

Besides her husband she is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wohlgemuth of Parnell; five children, Pfc. James E. Thompson home on temporary leave from the European theater, Mildred Jean, Robert Louis, Louise Ellen and Alfred Henry of the home; four brothers, William Wohlgemuth, Shannon, Albert Wohlgemuth, route 3, Emil and Edward Wohlgemuth, Cummings; four sisters, Mrs.. August Bodenhausen, Cummings, Mrs. Chester Moore, 1118 Laramie, Mrs. Claude Neill, Great Bend, Mrs. Floyd Armstrong, route 3.
