New Holstein--Mrs. Caroline Hanssen passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Arps, in this city on Friday. Mrs. Hanssen was born in Germany January 14, 1850, (sic) and came to this country with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Baster, at the age of 12 years. The family settled in this city. On November 23, 1866, she was married to H. J. Hanssen and the couple moved to a farm in the town of Eaton, where they resided for 47 years. Sixteen years ago they moved to this city and Mr. Hanssen preceded her in death five years ago.
Funeral rites will be held Monday from the home of Mrs. Fred Arps. Deceased is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Fred Arps and Mrs. Henry Karser (sic) of Kiel and three sons, Otto of Fond du Lac, Fred of town Eaton and John of Chilton. Mrs. Hanssen was a charter member of Ladies Aid society of this city.
