Obituary in --Wright County, IA, Monitor (in the Sandwich Press, she was called Lawson instead of Wilson, but the wording in the obit was identical otherwise):
"Sarah Matilda Wilson Parks
The friends and neighbors of Mrs. W. G. Parks were most painfully grieved to learn of her sudden death Friday afternoon, as few people knew that she had been sick. Mrs. Parks had not enjoyed rugged health for nearly four years past, her constitution having been weakened by an attack of pneumonia and bronchitis. However, she was able to attend to her usual household duties and only the day previous to her death had prepared the usual morning meal for her family. Death was due to an acute attack of uremic poisoning and occurred at 2 p.m. on the day above mentioned.
Sarah Matilda Wilson was born at Leland, IL, March 19, 1878, and died at Clarion, IA, November 7, 1913, aged 35 years, 8 months and 5 days. Deceased was united in marriage to W. G. Parks in May, 1896, at the home of her birth. To this union were born six children, all of whom survive their mother, as follows: Irene, Wesley, Willard, Ruby, Shirley and Russell. In the spring of 1901 the family came to Iowa and located in Norway Township, where they resided on a farm until March 1912, when they removed to Clarion. Funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon, at 1:30 o'clock, being conducted by Rev. C. H. Van Metre of the Methodist Episcopal Church, with interment in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mrs. Parks was a good woman, a self sacrificing mother, a kind friend and neighbor, always ready to lend a helping hand in time of sickness or death. Her death is indeed a crushing blow to the husband and the six motherless children, all of whom have the most sincere sympathy of a host of friends.
Relatives in attendance at the funeral were: Arthur Parks and wife and Mrs. R. J. Baer of Leland, IL; E.. A. Parks and daughter and Ed Vickers and wife of Pomona, KS."
