GREENSBURG, Kan. - Cecil Scronce, 71, died Nov. 7, 2005, at Pratt Regional Medical Center in Pratt, Kan.

He was born Oct. 15, 1934, in Vale, N.C., the son of Paul Correll and Bonnie Scronce Bolick.

Cecil served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. He was an engineer for Cities Service Gas Co. for 20 years and then worked at the Kiowa County Courthouse until his retirement.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7349, Kinsley, Kan.; the American Legion, Marvin C. Stephenson Post 103, Greensburg, Kan.; the International Union of Engineers; and Disabled American Veterans.

On Oct. 3, 1958, Cecil married Arlene Lawrence in Eureka, Kan. She survives.

Other survivors include a son, Gary and wife, Wendy, of Maringouin, La.; a daughter, Gail Withers and husband, Mitch, of Pratt, Kan.; a brother, Charles Bolick of Bostic, N.C.; nine sisters, Joyce Brittain and Dennie Houser, both of Vale, N.C., Linda Ramsey of Bostic, N.C., Willie Mae Parker and Doris Hall, both of Newton, N.C., Net Lail of Hickory, N.C., Faye Miller and Jo Anna Francis, both of Greensburg, Kan., and Cherry Koehn of Inman, Kan.; and six grandchildren, Laura, Grant, Curtis, Kaley, Colin and Andrew.

He was preceded in death by a son, David Scronce; his parents; his stepmother, Bonnie Correll; and a sister, Connie Caplinger.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2005, in Fleener Funeral Chapel in Greensburg, Kan.

Burial with military graveside honors followed in Fairview Cemetery in Greensburg, Kan.

Memorials are suggested to the Pratt Regional Living Center Activities Program and the Pratt Community College Foundation (Nursing), both in care of Fleener Funeral Home, P.O. Box 763, Greensburg, Kan. 67054-0763
