Joyce O. Brittain, 75, of Vale passed away Thursday, October 02, 2014 at Frye Regional Medical Center.

Born November 28, 1938 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Paul Correll and Bonnie Scronce. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Ramsey and a brother, Cecil Scronce.

Joyce was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Charles G. Brittain of the home; two daughters, Denise Rudisill and her husband, Billy of Vale and Renae Brittain of Gastonia; her brother, Charles Bolick of Sunshine, NC; four sisters, Doris Hall of Vale, Willie Mae Parker of Vale, Net Lail of Hickory, and Dennie Houser of Vale; and her grandchildren, Allen and Katie Rudisill and their daughter Alexis, Shane and Sarah Rudisill and their daughters Maddie and Emily Rudisill, and Jason and Cameron Rudisill and their children Aidan and Ava Rudisill.

Funeral services will be held at 3pm on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church with the Reverend Tony Sayer and the Reverend Olin Isenhour officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6pm until 8pm Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Bass-Smith Funeral Home. Mrs. Brittain will also lie in state an hour prior to services on Sunday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 8840 Cooksville Rd, Vale, NC 28168.
