Services for Edith Hunsaker, 84, of 524 11th Ave. So., Nampa, who died Thursday, April 14 in a Nampa hospital, will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday at the Alsip Funeral Chapel with Rev. Don Hanna, associate pastor of the Nampa First United Methodist Church, officiating and chapel rites by the Rainbow Chapter No. 80 Order of Eastern Star. Cremation will follow.
She was born on Dec. 13, 1898 at Chicago, Ill., where she was reared and educated. She was married to Dr. E.D. Hunsaker in 1916 in Chicago. In 1932 they moved to Nampa to make their home. Her husband practiced medicine in Nampa for nearly 40 years. He preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 1970. She was a very active member of the Nampa First United Methodist Church, she was a 50-year member of the Nampa Woman's Century Club having served as president in 1939-40 and also served as club treasurer for 7 years. While serving as president she was instrumental in developing the rose garden at Lakeview Park. She was a member of the Rainbow Chapter No. 80 Order of Eastern Star serving as Worthy Matron in 1957, was a member of the Past Matrons Club, was a member of the Iras Temple No. 40 Daughters of the Nile, the Harmony Club, the Altrusa Club having served as president in 1950-51 and the Owyhee Gem and Mineral Society.
She is survived by one son, Ernest Day Hunsaker, Missoula, Mont.; one daughter, Jean Dailey, Vancouver, Wash., five grandchildren, Cyndee Ficus, Denver, Colo., Paul Spiegel, Phillip Spiegel, Ricka Spiegel and Karen Anderson, all of Portland, Ore.; 10 great-grandchildren, Andrew Ficus, Denver, Colo., Brian, Eric, Kurt, Clinton, Christopher, Travis and Troy Spiegel, all of Portland, Ore., Aaron and Alicia Anderson, of Portland, Oregon.
Friends may call at the Alsip Funeral Chapel today from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Monday from 8 a.m. to noon.
The family suggest memorials to the American Heart Association of Idaho, 3295 Elder St., Suite 140, Boise, 83705, or The Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, 8200 N.E. Sandy Blvd., Portland, Ore., 07220.
