Born in Salina, Kansas, May 1, 1911, the son of R. A. Muir and Adelaid Todd Muir. A resident of Salida for 15 years. Husband of Bunny Reister Owens Muir, father of Robert Duncan Muir, Melody Muir, step-father of Jacqueline Owens Gann, brother of Viola Johnson.
A protestant, member of the Salida Elks, Ray Lines Post of American Legion.
Died on above date at Fort Lyon Veterans Hospital, Las Animas, Colorado, of heart disease and emphysema.
Funeral Services held at Chapel of Vision, March 15, 1969. Rev Richard Lawson, presbyterian church, and interment in Fairview cemetery, Salida.

Last rites held Saturday for Robert Muir
The haunting tune of "Taps" echoed over Fairview Cemetery , Saturday afternoon when Robert A Muir, who had served his country in World War II was buried with military honors. Buglers sounding the taps were Donald and Charles Glenn.
Last rites were held in the Chapel of the Vision of Stewart Mortuary. The Rev Richard Lawson of the First Presbyterian Church, Salida, was the officiating clergyman. The soloist, Milton Myers, accompanied by the organist Mrs. Virgil Peters, sang two sacred selections, "Just a Closer Walk With Three", and "Beyond the Sunset".
Active pallbearers were Jim Swisher, Calvin Carothers, Charles Bell, Duane Heister, Ernest Watts, and Joe Orr. Honorary pallbearers were James Kane, Frank Braswell, and James Lingenfelter.
Born May 1, 1911 in Salina, Kansas, Muir was the first white baby registered in Saline county after birth registrations became a law in the state of Kansas. He attended public school in Salina and an auctioneering training school in Kansas City. During World War II he served from 1943 to 1945 in the U. S. Navy and saw action in all major engagements in the South Pacific in those two years.
As a cattle buyer, he had followed auctioneering profession. Until declining health forced him to retire five years ago, he had operated a saw mill in Saguqche County. Since then he had received intermittent treatment in Veterans Hospitals. He died the afternoon of March 12 in the Fort Lyons Veterans Hospital at Las Animas.
A member of the Presbyterian Church in Salina, Kansas, Muir was also affiliated with the Elks Lodge in Salina and Ray Line Post No 64 of the American Legion. He had been a resident of Salida for 15 years.
Survivors are the widow, the former Bunny Heister, whom he married May 1, 1953 in Long Beach,California, a daughter Melody of Salida, a son Robert Duncan Muir of Bavaria, Kansas, a sister Mrs Viola Johnson of Salina, KS, an Aunt Barbara Todd also of Salina, Ks, a stepdaughter, Mrs. Jacquelyn Gann of Castle Rock, Wash, and four grandchildren.
Relatives of Mrs Muir attending the funeral from out of town were her sister, Mrs Cleo Cox and daughter Cheryl of Denver, a brother Mr and Mrs Elwood Heister, their children, Mrs Karen Binkley and Mr and Mrs Brian Heister, and two children all of Grand Junction.
Out-of-town friend were Mr and Mrs Ernest Watts of Georgetown, Kelly Polin of Granite, Mrs Barbara Ruiska of Buena Vista and Mrs Joan Wilder of Leadville.
