Prominent Saline Farmer is Dead
Robert Archibald Muir, Sr, 72, prominent farmer and stockman and a lifetime resident of Saline county died at 6:10 pm Tuesday. His death occurred on the farm where he was born Nov 30, 1880. It had been homesteaded by his father, Bryce Muir.
The farm is located a half-mile west of St.John's military school.
Death was from Rheumatic fever.
Active in community work, Mr Muir was chairman of the Saline county draft board during World war II, and for many years was treasurer of school district 27.
He was a member of the Presbyterian church.
He is survived by the widow, Adelaide; a son and daughter, Robert A., Jr, Longview, Wash, and Mrs. A. E Johnson of the home, and two sisters, Mrs Jennie B. Anderson, Salina, and Mrs Christina Mauchley,Atchison.
The funeral will be a 2:30 pm Thursday at the Rush Smith Funeral Home, the Rev James S. Elliott officiating.
Friends may call at the mortuary until the hour of the service. Burial will be in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery.
