William "Keith" Jorgensen, 82, of Mission Viejo, formerly of Kearney, Neb., died Friday, April 23, 2010, in Mission Viejo. Keith was born March 16, 1928, in Dawson County, Neb., to L.W. "Bob" and Mona (Boggs) Jorgensen.

On Nov. 11, 1950, he married Darlene Carlson in Kearney, Nebraska.

Survivors are: his wife; sons, Warren and William, both of Mission Viejo; brother, Lanford of Tucson, Ariz.; sister, Lana Wood of Lincoln, Neb.; and seven grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives.

He received his undergraduate degree from Uiversity of Nebraska at Kearney, Nebraska in 1950. He received master's degrees from University of Nebraska at Kearney, Nebraska and Brown University. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He passionately enjoyed teaching math and chemistry to hundreds of students during his tenure as a teacher at Troy High School in Fullerton and college instructor at Orange Coast College and Saddleback College. He was director of Allied Health Programs and acting director of records and statistics at University of Nebraska at Kearney, Nebraska from 1967 to 1976. He was very active in the University of Nebraska at Kearney, Nebraska Alumni Association of Southern California.

He was preceded in death by his son, Steven; daughter, Linda Beisheim; and brother, Dwaine.
