Harold Dwaine Jorgensen was born on June 13, 1933 in Lexington, Nebraska to parents Lloyd William "Bob" Jorgensen and Mona Icel (Boggs) Jorgensen. He was the second of four children and the second of three brothers. He grew up in Kearney and graduated from Longfellow High School in 1951. Immediately after high school, Dwaine served the United States Navy in the Korean War. On February 11, 1954, he married Betty Vavra in Riverside, California. Dwaine moved back to Kearney with Betty and served as the chief of the Kearney Fire Department, taking after his father who was also the fire chief in Kearney. Dwaine Jorgensen passed away on October 16, 1992, in Lincoln, NE. He was preceded in death by his father. He was survived by his mother, all siblings, his wife, and his children.
