The fire which cost Mr. Horn's life occurred late in the afternoon and the entire family , consisting of Mr. and Mrs. Horn and five children, were safely out of the doomed building when Mr. Horn remembered an important paper in the house, going back for it he was overcome by smoke and burned to death, despite efforts to to rescue him.
Reports say that the body was so badly burned that great difficulty was experienced in burial.
Besides the five children present when their father died, three other survive, Mr. Horn.
