Marion Elizabeth Sanchez Whitehead, 91, of Richmond, VA, peacefully passed away at her home Monday, May 4, 2009. She was born May 2, 1918, and raised in Barwick, GA, and graduated from the University of Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Winston Whitehead of Athens, GA, parents, Dr. and Mrs. S. E. Sanchez, Sr., of Barwick, GA, one brother, Dr. Simeon Edward Sanchez, Jr., three sisters, Anna Kathryn Sanchez Chandler, Charlotte Key Sanchez Maddox, and Frances Clifford Sanchez, and an infant son. She is survived by two children, Edward Sanchez Whitehead (Edwina) of Mount Airy, NC, and Christopher Key "Chi Chi" Whitehead Huff (David) of Richmond, VA; three grandchildren, Gary David Huff (Carolyn) of Midlothian, VA, Keri Laurel Whitehead Campbell (John) of Carrollton, TX, and Edward Sanchez Whitehead II of Nashville, TN; five great-grandchildren, Samuel, Clara and Natalie Huff, and Will and Meghan Campbell.
