John R. Bitner, aged 72, a machinist employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad Company for 51 years, died at his home, 519 East Lewis Street at 5:30 o’clock Monday afternoon, after an illness of two years. Mr. Bitner had lived in this city for the last 55 years and had retired from his work at the railroad shops two years ago. He was a member of Wayne Lodge, F&AM.
Surviving are the widow; four sons, Robert, Clark, Arthur and Roy Bitner; four daughters, Miss Lulu Bitner, Mrs. Flint Knott, Mrs. George Shiffer and Mrs. James Enochs; four sisters, Mrs. Walter Thompson, Mrs. William Jefferies, Mrs. Virginia Westerman and Mrs. Ena (cut off), and one brother, Clark Bitner.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon from the Grace Reformed Church, with the Rev. Mr. J. H. String officiating. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Friends are asked to omit flowers.
The remains may be viewed at the Wellman Undertaking Parlors from Wednesday noon until Thursday noon.
