The funeral for Floyd Peterson, 83, will be held Thurs., Aug. 1 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Free Lutheran Church in Minnewaukan. Interment will be in the church cemetery. He died July 29, 1991 at Central Dakota Nursing Home in Jamestown.

Rev. Philip Rokke will officiate. Claudette Carlson will be soloist. Pallbearers will be Kent Miller, Barry Miller, Bruce Miller, Alan Peterson, Scott Freeman, Mark Peterson, David Egbert, Arden Helgeseth, Roger Schloss & Gerald Gilbertson. The Nelson Funeral Home of Minnewaukan is in charge of arrangements.

Floyd J. Peterson was born Jan. 6, 1908 near Maddock, the son of Frank & Sophie Westad Peterson. He was raised & educated near Maddock & Harlow. He married Zola Kelts April 2, 1931 at Hesper. He farmed for a time, welded in Brinsmade for a time & managed the Farmers Union Oil Co. in Minnewaukan. He was custodian of the Minnewaukan school for 13 years & spent 6 years as custodian at the Lake Region Lutheran Home in Devils Lake. He retired in 1973. They lived at Minnewaukan until 1983 when they moved to Jamestown.

He was a charter member of Trinity Free Lutheran Church, a member of the Gideons & served on the board of the Tokio Mission.

Survivors include his wife, Zola of Jamestown; 2 sons, Lester of Jamestown & Wayne of Pueblo, Colo.; 2 daughters, Mrs. Bob (Joy) Miller of Shakopee, Minn. & Mrs. David (Doreen) Freeman of Couer d'Alene, Idaho; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Viola Sinness of Devils Lake, Elvera Mantifel of Gig Harbor, Wash., Irene Treakle of Tacoma, Wash. & Wilma Brown of Underwood; & 3 brothers, Orvin of Costa Mesa, Calif., Glenn of Sumner, Wash. & Duane of Puyallup, Wash.
