Mrs. Opal Mammy Hayes age 105 of Buffalo passed away Saturday November 30, 2019 in the Colonial Springs Health Care Facility Buffalo, Missouri. She was born June 27, 1914 to Wilburn and Flora Ann (Allman) Owens. She went to grade school at Engle School. She was united in marriage to George Hayes on May 10, 1932 and to this union they had 4 children. Opal was a member of the Freewill Baptist church. She was also a Cook at the Buffalo School Cafeteria and Snack Bar, and was also famous for her chicken and dumplings, but best of all she was a "Mommy".
Opal was preceded in death by her parents, husband George Hayes, 1 son Wilburn Lee Hayes and 1 daughter Gloria Ann Bashan, 4 brothers Paul Owens, Bert Owens, John Owens and Ray Owens, 2 sisters Ruthie Moore Veda Ann Owens. She is survived by 2 sons David Ray Hayes of Buffalo, Missouri and John Wayne and LaVerna Hayes of Drexel, Missouri, 1 sister Marie Kendrick, a daughter in law Janice Hayes. 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday December 3, 2019 in the Macedonia cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Wayne Hayes, Robert Schuetz, Gary Hayes, Carl Witt, James Piland and Allen Cannon. Services are under the direction of the Cantlon Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 10:30 am December 3, 2019 in the the chapel right before the graveside service.
