"Lewanna M. Enslow, 85, died Saturday, June 7, 2012, at Wesley Towers in Hutchinson, Kansas.

She was born November 13, 1926, in Roosevelt, Mo., the daughter of Theodore R. 'Odie' and Manduie Lucretia (Young) Collins. Lewanna started school in Zook, Kansas and graduating from Pawnee Rock High School. After graduation, she attended Emporia State Teachers College for one summer to acquire her teacher's certificate. Lewanna taught for one year at a rural school south of Great Bend, Kansas.

On September 15, 1947, she married Leslie Warren Enslow in Lakin, Kansas. After their marriage, Lewanna completed her teaching degree from Emporia State University, as she and her children lived in Emporia during the summer months. They moved to Garden City, Kansas after their marriage where Lewanna continued her teaching career as she taught 3rd grade in Garden City for 21 years. In 1975, they moved to Crestone, Colorado where Lewanna and Warren owned and operated a retail store. They later moved to Lakin, Kansas in 1985 and have lived in Lakin since. Lewanna was a member of the Lakin United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

Survivors include her three children, Barbara Ann Wikoff of Hutchinson, Kansas; Beth Elaine & husband John Williams of Hooper, Colorado; and Bryce Enslow of Warrensburg, New York; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Lewanna was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie, who died on February 11, 1988. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Maurice Wikoff; two brothers, Leroy Collins andTheodore J. Collins; and two sisters, Iona Ditmars and Ann Branine.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 16, 2012, at the Lakin United Methodist Church in Lakin, Kansas with Rev. Tod Anthony officiating. Interment in Lakin Cemetery in Lakin, Kansas.
