Swanville – Julia Mae Elwell, 84, passed away April 19, 2001. She was born March 25, 1917, in Knox, the daughter of Fred and Stella Bailey.

Julia graduated from Crosby HS (Belfast) in 1936. She worked as a nanny for several local families. In June of 1948, she married Laurence and they made their home in Swanville.

She was predeceased by her husband, Laurence Elwell; sister, Avis Sprowl; two stepchildren, Carol Elwell and Lorene Bernosky.

She is survived by one son, David Elwell; two daughters, Gloria Millett and Lois Elwell; stepson, Clifford Elwell; three stepdaughters, Ardith Millay, Arla Hall and Dorothy Elwell; brother, Freddie Bailey; two sisters, Ava Cunningham and Sadie Ward; half sister, Laura Higgins; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Burial will be in Kenney Cemetery in Brooks. (Republican Journal)
