BELFAST — Ava (Towers) Cunningham, 92, died Aug. 20, 2005, in Belfast. She was born in Liberty on Jan. 7, 1913, the daughter of Fred and Estella (Howes) Bailey.
She was a long-time active member of the Equity Grange.
Ava was predeceased by two husbands, Harold Towers and Elbridge Cunningham; and a daughter, Mildred Gott.
She is survived by a son, Robert Towers, of Chelsea; three daughters, Vera Warren, of Belfast, Margaret Kinney, of Gardiner and Flora Towers, of Bucksport; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; a brother, Freddie Bailey, of Knox; a sister, Sadie Ward, of Searsport and a half-sister, Laura Higgins, of Albion.
Friends may call at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., in Belfast, 12-1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. with David Abbott officiating. Interment will follow at Grove Cemetery, Belfast. Friends may make memorial donations to the Waldo County General Hospital General Fund. (Republican Journal 8/21/2005)
