He enlisted in Company B, 2nd Georgia Battalion on 30 April 1862 at Camp Cummings, Isle of Hope, Georgia. He transferred to Company F, 5th Georgia Cavalry on 20 Jan 1863. Harrison was detailed as “Cow Driver” on 26 Aug 1863 by order of General Mercer. He surrendered with his Company and was paroled at Hillsboro, North Carolina on 3 May 1865.
