Mrs. Lelia Stapler, wife of James S. Stapler, died at her residence in Tahlequah, Saturday evening, April 16th at 10 o'clock, after an illness of three days...Mrs. Stapler was 39 years old. She was born in New Orleans, April 13th, 1859, the daughter of Major and Mrs. N. B. Breedlove who reside at Oogeechee. She was educated in Lynchburg, Virginia, and came to Indian Territory in 1879. She taught school at Fort Gibson and afterward in the Female Seminary, and was married to James Stapler, September 27, 1881. Three children have preceded in death...She leaves a husband and four children to mourn her departure.
