She was born July 28, 1897 in Willow Creek, Idaho to Robert and Alice Berrett Irwin. The family of eight children worked on a farm, made their own entertainment, enjoyed hayrides and ice skating and social activities in the church. She met her husband Carl Frederick Norby at a New Year's dance and they were married October 1, 1917. They were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple April 1, 1929. Carl died in 1952.
She was an active member of the LDS Church all her life having served three times in Relief Society presidencies, in the YMIA presidency, on the Primary stake board, as a stake missionary, as a teacher in Sunday School, and homemaking and quilting chairman in Relief Society.
She was a talented seamstress and was well known for her expertise, especially in making wedding dresses and custom-made clothing. She was a perfectionist in her work. Her family was blessed repeatedly by her gifts of craftsmanship and lovely clothing.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Earl and Mary, Clinton O'Dell and Margaret; one sister, Melissa Irwin; nine grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be 12 noon, Wednesday, February 26, at the Cannon 3rd Ward, 1301 South 12th West. Friends may call Tuesday, February 25, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Estates, 5850 South 9th East, and 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. before services. Burial, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
