Joe Fry and Carrie Jane Adams were the parents of 10 children. Ollie A., James Logan, Loyal Harrison, Arthur Wright, Albert Benton, Harley, Joe Benny, Elizabeth Jane, Clarence Monroe and Carrie Jane.
OBITUARY:
Carrie Jane Adams, a resident of near Brodhead passed away November 25 at Ephraim McDowell Hospital, Danville. She had been in poor health but had fallen and broken her hip and had pneumonia. She was born Jun 7, 1867 and was 81 years of age.
She is survived by 10 children all of which are living. Ben Adams, Middletown, Ohio; Albert Adams, Nancy, Ky.; Harley Adams, Tolono, Ill.; James Adams, Loyal Adams and Arthur Adams of near Brodhead; and Lizzie Halcomb, Ollie Frith and Carrie Lovings of Hiatt, Ky.; and Clarence Adams, of Crab Orchard, Ky. She is also survived by 53 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. One brother, Jim E. Houk of Sims, Ill.; one brother-in-law in Kansas, Ill,; and nephews and nieces to mourn her loss.
She was a good Christian lady having joined the Mt. Zion Baptist Church at the age of 15.
Funeral services were conducted at Mt. Zion Baptist Church by The Rev. Howard Meadows of Corbin and Rev. Craig Holman, the pastor of the Mt. Zion Church. Burial followed in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Pallbearers were her grand-children and flower girls were her great-grandchildren.
She was laid to rest beside her husband, J. F. Adams, who preceded her in August 8, 1937.
