Joe Fry Adams, son of Mary Ann (Smith) and William Harve Adams, married Carrie Jane Houk, daughter of Mahala Jane (Hayes)and Hiram Monroe "Roe" Houk Sr on March 7, 1883 in Rockcastle County, KY.

Joe Fry and Carrie Jane Adams were the parents of 10 children. Ollie A., James Logan, Loyal Harrison, Arthur Wright, Albert Benton, Harley, Joe Benny, Elizabeth Jane, Clarence Monroe and Carrie Jane.

The death angel came into the home of Joe Fry Adams, August 8, 1937 and called him away to the home of the redeemed. He was one of the prominent and beloved Christians as well as a citizen of Rockcastle county.

He was seventy six years old, was born and reared in Rockcastle county. He was only sick one week but not considered seriously ill until about three days before the end came. He was conscious until Sunday morning talking to his family and friends who were at his bed side.

He united with the Baptist church at Mt Zion at the age of twenty four and has been a faithful member since his confession.

He is survived by his wife who was Miss Carrie Houk and ten children, one brother, Mr. Pur Adams, of Philo, Ill, one sister, Mrs. Mattie Rogers, of Blair, Oklahoma and children, Mrs. Allie Frith, Jim Adams, Loyal Adams, Arthur Adams, Mrs. Elizabeth Halcomb and Mrs. Carrie Lovings of Brodhead, Ky., Harley Adams of Falona, Ill., Ben Adams of Middletown, Ohio, Clarence Adams, of Lockland, Ohio, Albert Adams, of Yancy, Ky., and fifty four grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

He will be missed more and more as time goes by as he was always fround ready to help those in need.

The funeral was held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Mt. Zion church conducted by Rev. A. B. Lewis, of Hiatt, Rev. Green Fish, of Mt. Vernon, and Rev. Howard Meadows, of Corbin.

The remains were laid to rest at the Mt. Zion cemetery to await the resurrection morn. The active pall bearers were; Charlie Smith, Johnnie Lunsford, Albert Rigsby, Jack Rigsby, Clyde Rigsby and Elmer Lovings, of Brodhead, Ky,.

Our Loss was heavens gain.
