Records point to Permelia being buried in this cemetery. There is no gravemarker. She died in 1893. We are still working on this to prove that she was buried here. There are about twelve years between the two deaths.

Prior information listed Permelia's maiden name as Mitchell. In her pension records from Veteran's Administration, she list her maiden name as Brown. Her brother-in-law, Russell P. Palmer, in his affidavit, wrote that he knew her as Permelia Brown before she married his brother Joseph McKissick Palmer. Joseph's middle name had not been mentioned before these pension papers were available, not even in his military records, just Joseph M. Palmer.

Letters in these same records show that Permelia died between January 30, and May 27, 1893. These letters were written from Rara Avis, Mississippi by Permelia's attorney. In Joseph's daughter Elizabeth Palmer Glenn's affadavit in the pension files, she mentioned her father's date of death as June 13, 1881. Before these records were available, his date of death was listed as July 21, 1900.

DAR registrar acquired a copy of the receipt of when Joseph's gravemarker was purchased. It also listed his date of death as June 13, 1881. Contract for his gravemarker was July 11, 1893 by Gross Bros, Lee, Mass.
