James James--affectionately called "Double Jimmy" ( nickname was even included on his military Records) lived to be the oldest man in the U.S. He was close to 115 years when he died. He was the "Beloved Ceentenarian" of Parker County, Texas and sought out for interviews. He stated in one of the interviews that he lived on his father's land, next to the plantation of Lawrence Washington. Half brother to George, General and President. "Double Jimmy" fought in the War of 1812. James James married Elizabeth Newman in Virginia on April 1, 1810 in Bedford County. James James stated in his interview that he fathered 15 children. Many children have been accounted for and some have not. William James which is a direct descendent of mine. William married a Jane Rentfro and lived in Dallas, Texas until his death in 1860. Many relatives moved from Dallas to Fort Worth. James James passed away in young County Texas with his Daughter Nancy James by his side. He is buried in Gooseneck Cemetery in Graham, Texas.

The oldest man in Texas lives in Weatherford, Parker County, His names is James James, being familiarly called "Double Jimmy" and was born in Prince William County, Virginia May 10, 1764 and is consequently 114 years old. He lives with his daughter, Mrs. Nancy Wheat, herself 63 years of age, draws a pension of $8 per month, having been a soldier of the War of 1812.
Up to a year ago he could still go about the farm and do light work, but the past year he has grown feeble and somewhat deficient in hearing as well as memory. He never belonged to any secret society in his life; never was a church member, has drank whiskey for ninety years, and thinks that when he dies that will be the end of him.
He was never married but once, and has been a widower for 41 years. He raised a family of fifteen children, some of whom are now dead. His youngest son, Lewis, aged 50 years, resides in Arkansas. (Lampasas Dispatch, (Lampasas, TX, March 2, 1878
